Our Story
Laura and Dusty grew up 7 miles from each other, but threads really started weaving themselves in high school, where their paths crossed thanks to mutual friends. Although fate had introduced us, it wasn't until college that Dusty, a Trojan at USC, and Laura at Boulder, were formally introduced over winter break.
After graduation, life scattered them across different states. Dusty found his way back to Orange County, while Laura moved to places like San Francisco and Denver and even across the pond to London for graduate school. Yet, amidst the ebb and flow of life, their paths were destined to converge again.
As the world grappled with the challenges of the second pandemic wave in October 2020, Laura decided to return stateside to Orange County. Little did she know that this choice would set the stage for a serendipitous reunion. At a Halloween party just weeks later, they met once again. Encouraged by friends who saw the magic between them, their first date in December 2020 unfolded against the backdrop of Salt Creek Beach. A beach walk led to hours of conversation, and from that day forward, they became inseparable best friends.
Now, they call home Dana Point, CA, 10 minutes up the coast from Laura's parents, where they share their lives with Peggy, their three-legged cat, and Barney, their giant Sheepadoodle. Their journey extends beyond Dana Point, as they are lucky to call Solvang their part-time home, thanks to his parents, who moved up here in September 2020 to escape the hustle and bustle of Orange County. At least one week a month, Laura and Dusty escape to this enchanting town, where they spend their days drinking nice wine, eating good food, and admiring the incredible scenery around them.
